Kevin Joseph Convery (b. 1986, USA) Studied commercial photography at The Antonelli Institute outside Philadelphia, PA from 2004 to 2006. After working briefly in photo labs and photography resource centers Convery settled in the food service industry. Bartending allowed the financial freedoms to develop a photographic practice while still being adjacent to, if not immersed in, his other passion of cooking. He was recently a pizzaiolo at a popular Philadelphia pizzeria.
Kevin Convery has been able to create an intuitive and reactionary style meant to increase the diaristic nature of his photographs. The recurring issues of mental health, substance abuse and interpersonal relationships in Convery’s work become a therapeutic way to address and compartmentalize the internal as external. Focusing on his daily life he hopes to share a more sardonic view of contemporary city life.
